Highlights from ICSM 2026: Our Takeaways from the Premier Synthetic Electronics Conference

We were present on the 27th International Conference on Science and Technology of Synthetic Electronic Materials (ICSM 2026), we gained valuable insights into the latest advancements in the field.

We particularly enjoyed attending the lectures by professor and researcher Marco Cremona (PUC-Rio), seeing firsthand his fundamental contributions as Chair of the event.

Throughout the conference, we explored key breakthroughs across five major pillars:

  • Organic Conductors and Superconductors: Molecular materials, single-molecule magnets, and low-dimensional physics.

  • $\pi$-Conjugated Molecules: Advances in synthesis, carbon nanotubes, fullerenes, and green chemistry.

  • Organic and Hybrid Electronics: Flexible/printed electronics, organic transistors (OFETs), and sustainable devices for the energy transition.

  • Organic and Hybrid Photonics: Next-generation solar cells (perovskites, quantum dots), organic LEDs, and lasers.

  • Bioinspired Materials: Biosensors, neuromorphic computing, and integration with Artificial Intelligence.

We return from the conference with valuable ideas on how materials science is actively shaping the future of sustainable tech and advanced electronics.
